So who are we? First, we are not alone. The Riverside Club is one of over 44,000 Lions Clubs in almost every country of the world, with a total membership of some 1.4 million. There are 1,400 Lions clubs in Australia with around 30,000 members.
All Lions are affiliated members of Lions Clubs International. Each club agrees to the constitution and basic principles of voluntary service, we pay subs to the parent body and to our District administration, but apart from that, each club is self-governing.
The Riverside Club was founded in 1979 by Moreton Bay Lions Club. We currently have 20 members, men and women, working voluntarily to improve the lot of the needy in this community.
We meet twice a month,the first Tuesday of the month is a Club business meeting, then on the third Tuesday evening of the month we have a Club dinner meeting, which is opened to family and friends.
The Riverside area has many families and organisations needing help. Although money is scarce, we always find that the people of the community are ready to help someone worse off than themselves.
We owe a deal of gratitude to the people around our area, to local businesses and to the people who attend our events.
